Film for Peace in Ukraine
SANTA FILM ORIGINS, UPDATE, & AID FOR UKRAINE
TAMPERE, Finland - Santa film has had a big secret. It was a secret that we were quite proud of until a few weeks ago.
We had found a film stock that was not available to the worldwide analog community and we found a way to make it available. It involved buying bulk film and then cutting and spooling it by hand. A lot of work was done and over 10 000 rolls have been hand made since then. But now the world has changed.
The base material of Santa film is an air surveillance film originating from Russia. It is still available, in production, and is a great film that sells well, but we have decided not to buy any more until the regime in charge of the war on Ukraine will change.
As of this writing, we have over 5000 rolls of this special film ready in stock here in Tampere (both in 35mm and 120), and we have now pondered for a week what to do with it.
Because we are from Finland, we understand what a war is like where hundreds of thousands of men with thousands of tanks are commanded to rush at you from the east. We also know how deep and long the recovery for the people of Ukraine will be as our families still have scars 80 years after our war.
——
So we have now decided to sell the film and donate both the cost of the film material and all the profits to Ukrainian families in need. If all film in stock is sold at its normal price we could send roughly 35 000€ towards rebuilding the future through humanitarian aid.
We will keep the Santa film communication channels openly telling about the progress. We hope the analog community worldwide joins us to say a farewell to Santa film by helping the Santa team and its elfs give a big final gift to many kids.
